Late last year, the STREAM clinical trial site at the National Centre for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) in Ulaanbaatar was honored to receive a visit from Mongolia’s Minister of Health, Sarangerel Davaajantsan.

Mrs. Sarangerel acknowledged the importance of the STREAM study and the important role the trial is playing by generating high-quality evidence that is impacting the evolution of national and global TB policy. The Minister also applauded STREAM’s community engagement program for the key role it has played in building trust among key stakeholders involved in contributing TB management in the country. She later committed funding for the STREAM Community Advisory Board to develop and implement a program for combating workplace TB stigma. In a short video by the Ministry of Health, the STREAM study was ranked as one of Mongolia’s significant achievements for the health sector in 2019.

The Minister’s visit was broadcast on national television and covered in internal newsletters by the Mongolian Ministry of Health and the NCCD, helping to raise awareness of the challenge of TB in Mongolia and the STREAM trial.
