From 17th–21st September 2018, TREAT TB carried out its second training course for four operational research (OR) teams from the Philippines National TB Program, Lung Center of the Philippines, and National TB Reference Laboratory.

This marks the end of the three-module course, designed to enable public health practitioners to conduct OR studies and generate evidence that relates directly to goals set by the National TB Program to improve outcomes for TB in the Philippines. The final module was composed of lectures and workshops designed to support the teams with data analysis, interpretation of results, and drafting manuscripts and abstracts for submission to target journals and the upcoming Union Asia Pacific Regional Conference to be held in April 2019, respectively.

This training marks the end of many months of work to develop the OR skills of the identified teams. Since the initial training took place in May 2017, sessions on database management, data cleaning, and data analysis have been conducted as well as online mentoring sessions on data collection and encoding in order to prepare the teams for this final module.
